Animal Health
In the third millennium, global health challenges originated at the Human-Animal-Environment (HAE) interface. Under the “One Health” concept, fundamental HAE connections must be recognized, studied, used, and addressed to prevent “downstream” health and economical impacts. In this framework, the School of Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine support integrating research areas focused on animal welfare/health and their effect on animal/human health.
The Veterinary Hospital in Matelica provides care of pets, large animals and farm animals, as an integrated diagnostic/therapeutic platform (etiopathogenesis/diagnosis, prevention, treatment and follow-up/epidemiology). Innovative -omics approaches (together with big data analysis), regenerative therapies and translational genetics are also practiced.
Finally research areas are devoted to the effect on animal and human health (according to the One Health Perspective) of zootechnics and animal production, animal wellbeing and the assessment of chemical and biological contaminants on animals and animal-derived matrices.
